After a career of more than thirty years in the British Army, Deb and her husband, Allan, swapped military life for the sunshine of Cyprus, becoming, as Deb likes to call them, weather refugees.

Deb writes across a range of genres, including supernatural fiction, fantasy, military fiction and cosy mysteries. Her Cygean Chronicles fantasy series follows a race of people born with extraordinary gifts that frighten those around them, making them targets of persecution simply for daring to be different.

Her cosy mysteries, The Island Expat series, are set on the Mediterranean island of Souvia, where expat life comes with its own share of secrets and surprises. She also writes the Unlikely Soldiers series, featuring friendship, military life, dark humour and growing up in 1970s Britain.

Dogs have a special place in Deb’s writing, too. Her Island Dog Squad books are narrated by a dog named Sandy, whose mission name is Fish. At home in Cyprus, Deb and Allan share their lives with Sandy, a much-loved rescue dog who is part of the family.

Deb’s children’s books include Reindeer Dreams, her very first book, Jason the Penguin and Ellie and the Animals. All four of her children’s books are written in rhyme.

Her non-fiction is more personal. Zak, My Boy Wonder tells the story of Zak, a boy born to be different, and the challenges and experiences that shape his life and the lives of his family. The Lump, My Cancer Journey is Deb’s own account of her experience with triple-negative breast cancer. She has since also faced anal cancer and is recovering from both.

When she’s not writing, Deb can usually be found socialising, avoiding housework and attempting to get her fitness back after everything her body has put her through.

She lives in Cyprus with Allan and Sandy, and spends her days proving that there is no such thing as having too many stories to tell.
